Honigman Names 2 New Partners

DETROIT — Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP has named Matthew H. Szalach to the firm’s Intellectual Property department as a partner and B. Michael Ortwein III, a former assistant U.S. attorney, as partner to the litigation department.

Szalach, far left, is a member of the firm’s patent practice group in the firm’s Bloomfield Hills office. Before attending law school, he served as an engineer in the automotive industry. He is admitted to practice in Michigan, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Previously, he worked at Harness, Dickey & Pierce PLC.

Szalach earned a J.D. from Wayne State University Law School, an M.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University.

 Ortwein is a member of the firm’s white collar crime and investigations practice group in Hongiman’s Detroit office. He is a litigation attorney with more than 10 years of experience and in state and federal courts. Ortwein is admitted to practice in Michigan and the District of Columbia.

He earned a J.D., cum laude, from Suffolk University Law School in Boston and a B.A., cum laude, in political science from the College of the Holy Cross in Worchester, Mass.
