Henry Ford Medical Group has appointed Dr. Deepak Prabhakar as chair of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine. Prabhakar takes the helm from Dr. Cathy Frank, who has led the department for more than seven years.
Prabhakar brings to the role a wealth of experience and a comprehensive background in mental health care, education, and administration. Previously, he served as the chief of medical staff at Sheppard Pratt, the nation’s largest private, nonprofit provider of mental health, substance use, special education, developmental disability, and social services.

In his new position, Prabhakar says he plans to introduce innovative treatment programs, emphasize continuous improvement, expand access to mental health services, and continue the department’s tradition of excellence in education and research.
