Habitat for Humanity of Oakland Event Honors Homeownership

PONTIAC — Focusing on building homes, communities, and hope, Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County’s will hold its second annual signature fundraising event on Nov. 20 at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham. The event will feature entertainment by Alexander Zonjic and Marie Osborne of WWJ (AM-950) will emcee.

The event will give an opportunity to share heartwarming stories of successful homeownership and community-building.

 “Building on last year’s successful first-time event, this year’s gathering will bring together people from Oakland County’s many communities to help create homeownership that builds generations of Oakland County residents,” says Tim Ruggles, executive director and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County. “We are one, connected community with a vision of everyone having a decent place to live.”

 “Every person and every family needs a safe and decent home to live in – that leads to family stability, pride and physical safety for everyone living in that home,” says Committee Chair Susie Mansoor. “It is my goal to do everything in my power to secure safe, affordable housing for everyone in Oakland County.”

Habitat partners with families who demonstrate work ethic, sweat equity, and a commitment to their communities to qualify for a no-profit mortgage. The signature event will support the effort to find housing for more people. Habitat homeowners repay this mortgage monthly to Habitat.
