LANSING — Doug Luciani has been reappointed to the Grow Michigan board of directors, a public-private partnership that provides loans to profitable small Michigan businesses.

The nine-member Grow Michigan board has three appointees delegated from the Michigan Strategic Fund, which reappointed Luciani to a 5-year term at its May 27 meeting. He was first appointed to the Grow Michigan board in September 2012.

Luciani is president of the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce, including its subsidiaries, Traverse Bay Economic Development Corp. and Traverse City Area Chamber Foundation. He has 25 years of experience in labor relations, community and economic development, and trade association leadership. He began his professional career in Kansas City, where he worked for the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, specializing in transportation, environmental and economic development programs.

Luciani studied political science and English at Central Michigan University and holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Massachusetts.

In the 18 months since it began, Grow Michigan has approved or closed 12 transactions worth more than $17 million. As a result, those transactions have created 274 jobs with another 1,000 jobs protected. Most of the loans have supported small manufacturing businesses.
