FARMINGTON HILLS — Great Lakes Ace Hardware has raised more than $42,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network, company officials announced today.

The majority of the donation was generated from a campaign during the month of November in which the hardware stores sold icons for a donation of $1 or more. The rest of the contribution was produced from a one-day sale last August that allowed customers to receive a limited edition five-gallon bucket for $5 and get another 20 percent off almost all products they could fit into the bucket.

“Our employees and neighbors have always been generous during donation drives,” says Mark VandenBerg, president of Great Lakes Ace Hardware.

The money will be divided amongst several hospitals in the areas where Great Lakes Ace Hardware has stores in Michigan, including:
Beaumont Children’s Hospital, Royal Oak; Sparrow Hospital-Children’s Center, Lansing; Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, Grand Rapids; Mercy St. Vincent Family Care Center in Toledo (Adrian location).
