Grant Thornton Names New Partner, Tax Director

DETROIT — Grant Thornton LLP named Maya Wagh as an audit partner  and promoted Steve Skiba to tax managing director to its Southfield office.

Wagh has more than 15 years of experience in public accounting that includes financial statement audits, consolidations, reviews, and internal audits. She serves a wide range of clients, including technology, manufacturing, and hospitality companies, and has experience with international clients.

She also has significant public company audit and accounting experience, including IPOs, follow on offerings, acquisitions, and other SEC reporting requirements. Wagh is a certified public accountant in Colorado and Michigan, and a chartered accountant in India.

Skiba has more than 20 years of experience in sales and use tax and motor fuel taxation. His experience includes state sales and use tax audits, mergers and acquisitions, aircraft transactions, refund recovery and utility reviews, multi-state compliance, tax matrixes, tax manuals, training, nexus studies, due diligence reviews and serving as a tax subject matter resource in conjunction with the implementation of third party sales and use tax software solutions.

Skiba is a CPA and an attorney in Michigan, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as well as the Michigan Association of CPAs. He received a bachelor’s in accounting and a JD degree from Wayne State University.
