Grant Thornton Announces New Hires in Detroit

 SOUTHFIELD — Grant Thornton LLP announced several new hires today in its Detroit office as it continues to grow its Michigan practice. 

Amanda Moxie, of Royal Oak, joined Grant Thornton’s business advisory services group as an IT audit senior. She previously was a lead innovative and improve specialist with The Dow Chemical Company in its Midland and Saginaw offices. Moxie has her bachelor’s degree in management information systems from Central Michigan University. 

Mike Jacobson, of Clarkston, joined the Detroit office’s forensic and valuation services group as a manager. He previously worked at Deloitte Financial Advisory Services as a senior associate in first the Chicago office and then Detroit. He has his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan and his MBA in finance from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. 

Three recent college graduates also have joined the firm as audit associates:

  • Joe Cahalan of Ann Arbor has his bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in accounting from Eastern Michigan University.
  • Amy Carlin of Royal Oak has her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University and her master’s degree in accounting from Oakland University. 
  • Marie Tashjian of Clawson  has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University.

One recent college graducate has joined as an associate in the state and local tax practice. Becca Smudski, of Farmington Hills, has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University.
