The National Academy of Public Accounting Professionals has selected Nathan Burkhart of Grant Thornton LLP, as one of the 2015 “Top 10 Public Accounting Professional Rising Stars” in Michigan. The award is designed to recognize outstanding public accounting professionals who have been practicing for less than 15 years.
Burkhart began his career with Southfield-based Grant Thornton as a associate, and now serves as a senior audit manager. He provides audit and consulting services to both publicly traded and privately owned companies in a variety of industries with specialization in manufacturing. Burkhart, of Huntington Woods, specializes in internal controls and international operations. He also advises clients on various accounting and disclosure matters, including receivables factoring, variable interest entities, hedging, pension curtailments, impairment, and purchase accounting.
Burkhart hold an undergraduate degree in accounting from Michigan State University, Eli Broad College of Business, as well as a Master of Science in auditing and accounting from Michigan State University.
