FARMINGTON HILLS — Gorman’s Home Furnishings & Interior Design today announced George Efthemiou has been named general manager of its Lakeside design center and showroom located in Shelby Township. Company president Tom Lias made the announcement.

As general manager, Efthemiou will leverage his more than 30 years of retail management experience to oversee day-to-day operations of the store and support Gorman’s design team members. Efthemiou also will be responsible for staffing, inventory control, customer service, and showroom floor design.

“Efthemiou has an innate understanding of how Gorman’s is positioned in the marketplace as a style leader and appreciates our company’s commitment to exceeding customer expectations,” said Lias. “His extensive experience in the home furnishings sector and notable leadership skills will be a complement to our current Lakeside design center team.”

Immediately prior to joining Gorman’s, Efthemiou was employed as general manager of home furnishings retailer, Bright Ideas. He also previously served as store manager and buyer at House of Denmark for nearly 30 years.

“Gorman’s is something I knew I wanted to be part of for a very long time. Their team of more than 60 designers and 100 best brands is impressive to say the least,” added Efthemiou.

Efthemiou, a Shelby Township resident, attended Oakland Community College and LawrenceTechnological University. He is highly involved with SS. John and Paul Parish’s worship commission and dedicates time to volunteering for Habitat For Humanity and the American Red Cross.
