WOODHAVEN — Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit on Saturday will open its new retail store at 20080 West Rd. in Woodhaven. The store, located near the corner of West and Allen roads, will bring 25 new jobs to the Downriver community.

The retail store is the largest Goodwill store in Metro Detroit at more than 17,000 square feet, and the fourth of its kind, including the flagship store that opened in Canton in 2010, followed by Dearborn and Commerce Township. At the grand opening, at 9 a.m.  shoppers will have the opportunity to win raffle prizes as part of the celebration.

Proceeds from the store will fund Detroit-area Goodwill job training, education and placement programs that help the region’s unemployed overcome employment challenges and earn jobs.

“The Goodwill Woodhaven store offers area shoppers the opportunity to discover treasures and enjoy a shopping experience unlike the prototypical ‘thrift’ store,” said Jeffrey Ukrainec, director of donated goods of Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit. “Our stores offer men, women’s and children’s clothing along with home goods. Metro Detroiters can shop knowing every purchase helps support jobs in our community. Every dollar Goodwill earns stays in Southeast Michigan.”

The store will open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and Sunday noon to 6 p.m.

Metro Detroiters who want to donate new or gently used clothing or other items to Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit may drop them off at the store in Commerce Township (3281 Crumb Rd.), Dearborn (22451 Michigan Ave.), Canton store (41937 Ford Rd.) or at the organization’s Detroit headquarters (3111 Grand River), Call (313) 964-3900 for more information.
