Global Comms Expert Chris Preuss Joins Hill & Knowlton

NEW YORK – J. Christopher Preuss has been named Executive Vice President for Hill & Knowlton, joining WPP Group’s automotive team based in Dearborn, Mich., it was announced today. 

In his new role at H&K, Preuss will develop a global transportation practice, working most directly with the WPP team dedicated to Ford Communications, with a key focus on global product communications plans, programs and storytelling. 

Preuss was most recently Vice President of global communications at General Motors and President of GM’s OnStar telematics subsidiary. He skillfully led GM’s communications efforts during GM’s bankruptcy and global restructuring.  His expertise in technology and social media efforts lead to his leading the company’s telematics unit.

Preuss has held a number of positions with GM including Vice President of Europe Communications, Executive Director of Global Product and Brand, Director of Government Affairs and Technology Communications, and Director of Cadillac Communications. Prior to his 13 years at GM, Preuss spent five years as a senior communications leader at Chrysler and has led automotive accounts at three PR agencies including Golin Harris, Manning, Salvage and Lee, and Campbell and Company.

Preuss is a Michigan native and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University.
