Rochester-based social services organization The Rainbow Connection recently announced the appointment of George Miller as executive director of the organization. The appointment is effective May 1.

“I have had the pleasure of having George Miller on my staff for fifteen years, the last nine as my Director of Health and Human Services,” says Patterson. “He’s a hard worker, dedicated, and gets the job done.  As leader of The Rainbow Connection, I expect great things from George.

As the Oakland County director of the department of health and human services, Miller led the largest department in the county. Previously, Miller spent seven years as a public health officer. He was responsible for Oakland County children’s village, health division, and homeland security division. His accomplishments include implementing several coalitions on behalf of the county executive to address public health and human services issues.

Miller understands firsthand the important role The Rainbow Connection plays in each Wish Family’s life, because Miller’s family, like thousands of others across the state, is a Wish Family.

“My youngest daughter Mandy was granted a Rainbow wish back in 2004.  I saw how much joy that wish brought her,” says Miller.  “Now I can help other families who are battling life threatening illnesses by being a member of this great organization.”

“We’re thrilled to welcome George as our new executive director,” says Dave LewAllen, president of The Rainbow Connection’s board of directors. “George’s experience and management skills alone make him the perfect person to lead this organization into the future. Additionally, he brings a personal passion to furthering the Rainbow Connection’s mission because the Miller family is a wish family.”

The mission of The Rainbow Connection is to make dreams come true for Michigan children with life threatening illnesses and provide support services to the wish families
