Garden Fresh Gourmet CEO Appointed to Salvation Army Board

SOUTHFIELD — John J. Latella, Metro Detroit Salvation Army Advisory Board first vice chair,  has been appointed to a three-year term on the Salvation Army’s National Advisory Board.

Latella, co-CEO and general counsel of Garden Fresh Gourmet, will join the group of national civic, philanthropic, and business leaders who will help guide the organization in matters ranging from strategic planning to public outreach.

Latella will serve alongside Charlotte Jones Anderson, executive vice president, chief brand officer, and president of charities for the Dallas Cowboys; former first lady Laura Bush; Robert Franklin, president emeritus of Morehouse College; and Michael Ducker, COO and president of FedEx Express.

As part of the Salvation Army Metropolitan Detroit Advisory Board, Latella serves as vice chair of the Bed & Bread committee. He has been instrumental in implementing new fundraising efforts such the annual Shield on the Field Celebrity Classic softball game and Comedy for a Cause, both events raising awareness and funds for the Bed & Bread program.

Latella, a resident of Shelby Township, has a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Wayne State University, a Master of Science in finance from Walsh College, and a Juris Doctor in law from Michigan State University.
