Frank Venegas Jr., chairman and CEO of The Ideal Group in Detroit, has been named laureate for the Business Hall of Fame event hosted by the Junior Achievement (JA) of Southeastern Michigan.

The Ideal Group offers solutions for construction services, manufacturing, and indirect material management.

Venegas’ community work was recognized by Steven Englehart, who is senior vice president and team lead of Fifth Third Bank and a JA board member.

“Fifth Third Bank is happy to sponsor the JA Business Hall of Fame and to help honor Frank Venegas Jr. Frank’s entrepreneurial work in the southwest Detroit community is invaluable to our city and our region,” he says.

Venegas participated in numerous regional and national committees.  His involvement includes services at the DTE Energy Supplier Advisor Council, the state of Michigan’s Governor’s Talent Investment Board, and the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council. He is also a founding member of the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Detroit Hispanic Development Corp.

As an active member, he is part of the Detroit Regional Chamber board, the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy board, General Motors Supplier Alumni Council, Henry Ford Health Systems board, Tuck School of Business Advisory board at Dartmouth College, Wayne State University Mike Ilitch School of Business board of visitors, and the Mayor’s Workforce Development board in Detroit.

Venegas works to offer educational opportunities, internships, and mentoring programs, especially at Holy Redeemer Grade School, a feeder school to Detroit Cristo Rey High School (DCRHS). He also sponsors dual enrollment DCRHS seniors.

“Frank’s commitment to supporting and providing opportunities for students makes him the perfect laureate for our upcoming event,” says Jason Lee, president and CEO of JA of Southeastern. “We’re looking forward to sharing his achievements and ideas with future philanthropic JA supporters.”

The JA of Southwest Michigan event will take place on March 12, 2020 at The Fillmore Detroit. The event will include a cocktail reception, dinner, a mini live auction, an afterglow, entertainment, and more
