Troy-based Fitness Therapy Unlimited will now offer ReWalk, a bionic walking assistance system that uses powered leg attachments to enable paraplegics to stand upright, walk, and climb stairs.
“ReWalk will help many patients to stand upright and walk again,” says Greg Kirk, CEO of Fitness Therapy Unlimited. “We are here to help them gain the strength and coordination necessary to achieve their dreams.”
Fitness Therapy Unlimited, which has facilities in Rochester, Clinton Township, Canton Township, and West Bloomfield, among other metro Detroit locations, provides fitness therapy for patients who suffer from a catastrophic injury or acute and chronic conditions.
Officials with ReWalk say the device helps improve bladder and bowel functions, improve mental health and sleep conditions, and reduce fatigue and body fat. Fitness Therapy Unlimited is one of the first facilities in Michigan to offer the exoskeleton system.
