SOUTHFIELD — Farbman Group today announced that the full service commercial real estate firm has partnered with Jackets for Jobs to launch Drive to Thrive, an effort to collect more than 1,000 gently used business suits, beginning Monday and continuing through June 19.

“We invite our business colleagues and neighbors — thousands of whom come through the doors of our properties every day — to join us in this effort,” says Andy Farbman, CEO of Farbman Group.  “Together, we are helping to provide one of the resources needed so that individuals feel and look their best while seeking to re-enter the workforce and, ultimately, thrive.  For those who are cleaning out their closets during the change of season, it’s a perfect time to consider donating to this noteworthy program.”

Clothing donations should meet these guidelines: All clothing must be clean, dry-cleaned, washed or ironed and on a hanger, ensuring it will arrive at Jackets for Jobs without wrinkles. Clothing must be in good condition, with no stains, moth holes, buttons missing, rips or tears, or broken zippers. Clothing must be in current style and suitable for the workplace.

Basic colors such as black, brown, navy, and white are in great demand, but others are welcome. In addition to suits, jackets, shirts, and dresses and accessories such as shoes, belts, jewelry, handbags, and unopened cosmetics are also greatly appreciated. The organization has a special need for coats, umbrellas and plus-sized suits for women and big and tall suits for men.

Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. Tax receipts are provided at request at each building management office unless otherwise noted.  Individuals are invited to drop off gently used men’s and women’s suits at the Detroit and Detroit-area Farbman Group office properties detailed below. Drop-off boxes are provided in the lobby of each building.
