AUBURN HILLS — Easter Seals Michigan has appointed Paul J. Haviland, district business manager of Cadence Pharmaceuticals, to its board of directors.  His responsibilities as a board member will include governing and upholding the nonprofit agency’s mission to serve people with disabilities and other special needs so that they can successfully live, learn, work, and play in their communities.

“We are very excited to have Paul as a member of our board. He is very knowledgeable about effective marketing and brand awareness methods,” Brent Wirth, Easter Seals Michigan president and CEO, said. “He is eager to become involved in advancing our mission, to better serve the community and the children and adults living with a disability and those that love them.”

In addition to attending requisite meetings, Easter Seals Michigan board members duties include participating in strategic planning and policy decisions, securing financial resources, and monitoring program outcomes and operations.

“People recognize and respect Easter Seals, but they don’t always know exactly what we do,” Haviland said. “I’d like to help improve public awareness of what Easter Seals does locally, so we can help more people in need.”

Prior to his position at Cadence Pharmaceuticals, Haviland was a district manager for Johnson & Johnson where he won numerous leadership and sales awards. He was also one of four people within Johnson & Johnson responsible for the branding and marketing of a $1.2-billion product.

In addition to his work experience, Haviland was a member of the Michigan State University Diversity Advisory Panel. He currently resides in Clarkston.
