Downtown Detroit Partnership Challenges Community to Walk Detroit

DETROIT — The Downtown Detroit Partnership today launched Walk Detroit today, a six-month campaign to inspire residents and visitors to discover Detroit. The campaign is designed to increase foot traffic in downtown Detroit and support sidewalk level businesses.

“Our goal is to support and foster a high-quality urban environment in downtown Detroit,” says Eric Larson, CEO of the Downtown Detroit Partnership. “We want each person to become an integral part of the community and to be immersed in the diverse and growing downtown.”

The partnership will be kicking off #WalkDetroit, a social-media campaign using platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to promote public transportation.

Walk Detroit is made possible through a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. It’s based on the Walk [Your City] toolkit, a civic startup focused on building more livable cities.
