The Downtown Detroit Business Improvement Zone (BIZ) has named Hassan Beydoun, group executive of economic development and counsel to the mayor of the city of Detroit; Steven Pecic, senior director of facilities management for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan; and Khalil Rahal, director of economic development at DTE Energy; to its board of directors.
The Downtown BIZ is dedicated to enhancing the overall appeal of downtown Detroit through services, including hospitality, cleaning, supplemental lighting, safety, and urban planning. The BIZ is governed by a volunteer board of directors that contracts with the Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP) to manage its day-to-day operations.
“The Downtown BIZ has seen many successes in its first 10-year term thanks to its engaged board of directors guidance and commitment.” says Gina Cavaliere, director of BIZ and chief community impact officer at DDP. “Hassan, Khalil, and Steven are invaluable additions to the team, and we have already seen their impact play out.”

Steve Ogden, senior vice president of government affairs at Rocket Cos. and chair of the BIZ board, says, “Our collaboration and shared vision are what drives the forward momentum and improvement of Downtown Detroit. The dedication and support of our entire community, which includes these newly added, dynamic leaders to the Downtown BIZ Board of Directors, are the driving forces behind the goals and achievements of the Downtown BIZ.”
