MADISON HEIGHTS — The Detroit Medical Center Surgery Hospital will open an urgent care center on July 1 in place of the facility’s emergency room services.
“We are transitioning our emergency department to an urgent care center to compliment the existing emergency services provided at other Detroit Medical Center locations. An urgent care center will position DMC Surgery Hospital to better meet the changing needs of the communities it serves,” said DMC Surgery Hospital Chief Executive Officer Andrei Soran.
“Urgent care services also make more sense with the changes we are seeing in the market place, effects we are seeing from the Affordable Care Act, as well as the shift toward an increase in the use of primary care and preventative medicine.”
