The Detroit Medical Center has named Tara Vafadari group chief financial officer.
Vafadari comes to the DMC from Wellstar North Fulton Hospital in Rosewell, Ga., where she served as vice president of finance and CFO. In her new role, she provides financial oversight and management for revenue cycle, financial operations and budgeting, supply chain, and procurement operations for the health system. She also directly supports financial operations for GME and the DMC University Lab.
“Tara is an accomplished and highly respected leader who will help to guide the DMC through this rapidly changing financial landscape,” says Brittany Lavis, CEO of the DMC. “With more than a decade of financial leadership experience, she will ensure we continue to grow the programs and services we offer the communities we serve.”
Vafadari is an alumnus of Tenet, which operates the DMC, previously serving as chief financial officer at Tenet’s Baptist Health System in San Antonio, Texas, and as controller at Tenet’s Hospitals of Providence in El Paso, Texas.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla.
