DMC Names New Director of Cardiovascular Surgery

DETROIT — Scott Henry, M.D., PhD, has joined the Detroit Medical Center Cardiovascular Institute as director of cardiovascular surgery care uniformity.

Dr. Henry of Southfield, will work to ensure the clinical outcomes and quality metrics of the cardiovascular surgery services not only meet, but exceed, those standards set forth by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.

Prior to joining the DMC, Dr. Henry served as an attending cardiothoracic surgeon at St. Joseph Medical Center in Reading, Pa. and a senior staff physician in the cardiac surgery division of Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He’s also a lieutenant colonel in the United States Army Reserve.

Dr. Henry received his bachelor’s from Indiana University and attended Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He did his residency and National Institute of Health fellowships at Wayne State University School of Medicine before becoming an administrative chief resident. He also completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Louisville School of Medicine.
