Dixie Aune Named Chief Nursing Officer at DMC Sinai-Grace

The Detroit Medical Center announced that Dixie Aune has joined its DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital in Detroit as the chief nursing officer.

Aune joins DMC Sinai-Grace after a career in the U.S. Navy, where she served in a variety of leadership roles. Most recently, she was nurse executive/chief nursing officer at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Va., the Navy’s premiere academic medical center.

In that senior role, she provided guidance and management for a 270-bed multi-specialty hospital. She has been honored with the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award and the Military Health System Nurse of the Year Award.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from North Dakota State University, one master’s degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina, and one master’s degree in community health administration and wellness promotion from Independence University, and a nurse executive doctorate from Old Dominion University.
