Dickinson Wright in Detroit Announces Chairman

Detroit’s Dickinson Wright PLLC has announced William T. Burgess was elected chairman effective Jan. 1. Burgess served as the firm’s CEO for the past nine years and will resume his practice in the areas of banking and finance, insolvency and restructuring, and municipal and regulatory affairs.

“The opportunity to lead Dickinson Wright’s business expansion over the course of the past several years has been exceptionally rewarding,” says Burgess.  “I look forward to continuing to foster our firm’s relationship with business and community leaders, and also to the opportunity once again to work directly with our clients and prospective clients.”

Burgess has worked the entirety of his 35-year legal career at Dickinson Wright. He is also the city attorney for Grosse Pointe Farms and taught commercial law as an adjunct professor at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law for 26 years. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and his juris doctorate from Yale Law School.
