The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) today announced the addition of Marcia Crawley as vice president of development, where she will be responsible for leading the museum’s operating endowment campaign effective immediately.

“The fundraising challenge the DIA faces for the upcoming years is tall, and the entire organization is behind this critical effort,” says Salvador Salort-Pons, director of the DIA. “Marcia will work closely with me, our board chair, Gene Gargaro, and the rest of our board of directors to ensure the DIA will be open for future generations.”

Most recently, Crawley served as the senior director of development for Michigan State University in East Lansing. She joined the school in 2011 as founding director of development for the Eli and Edyth Broad Art Museum, where she completed funding for the project – totaling $45 million – and managed the museum after opening. Crawley was also director of development for the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Fla., where she exceeded the $36 million building campaign goal by $3 million.

“We had an extensive search for this position, with outstanding candidates in a very competitive market, and we are delighted to have someone of Marcia’s high caliber and experience join the team,” adds Eugene G. Gargaro, Jr., chair of the DIA board of directors.
