DETROIT — Detroit’s Police and Fire Retirement System has elected Mark Diaz as its board chairman for fiscal year 2015.

Diaz, who succeeds George Orzech, will serve a one-year term.

“I am honored to serve the members and beneficiaries in this important role ascChair during this phase of the bankruptcy process and tumultuous times for all pensioners in Detroit,” says Diaz. “We have made a great deal of progress but there remains much work to be done to ensure the viability of the pension system into the future.”

A long-time board member, Diaz also serves as president of the Detroit Police Officer’s Association.
