Detroit Symphony Orchestra Names New Campaign Director

DETROIT — The Detroit Symphony Orchestra has hired Julie Byczynski as its new campaign director. She previously served the National Arts Centre Foundation in Ottawa, Ont. as its associate director of major gifts, sponsorship and special events.

As DSO campaign director, Bycznski will work with the senior director of advancement, president & CEO, executive vice president, campaign co-chairs, campaign cabinet and staff to lead, direct, manage, and support the campaign for a DSO renaissance. Her role will be working with executive leadership of the campaign and hands-on fundraising, engaging with DSO leaders, donors, patrons, prospects, and friends to help secure an artistically distinguished, fiscally sustainable future for the DSO.

A Windsor native, Byczynski worked as a fundraiser for nearly 15 years for the performing arts and social benefit sectors. From 2002-2005 and then again from 2009 until 2014, she served the National Arts Centre  Foundation where she completed her tenure as a senior member of the fundraising team. Her areas of responsibility included major gifts, corporate sponsorship/donations and special events program. In addition to leading a team of three development officers, she managed a portfolio of approximately 100 individuals, companies and foundations.
