DETROIT — The Detroit Red Wings today released a promotional schedule for the upcoming 2014-15 season, which includes several new giveaways and the opportunity to collect one-of-a-kind bobbleheads.
The schedule includes five AT&T Bobblehead Nights, during which the first 7,500 fans in attendance at Joe Louis Arena will receive a bobblehead of Justin Abdelkader (Nov. 24), Jonathan Ericsson (Dec. 16), Gustav Nyquist (Jan. 20), Danny DeKeyser (March 9), and Gordie Howe (March 31).
During December, the Red Wings will distribute holiday ornaments to fans during four games. The ornaments will depict Henrik Zetterberg (Dec. 2), Pavel Datsyuk (Dec. 4), Niklas Kronwall (Dec. 12), and Mike Babcock (Dec. 23). Also, the Red Wings will issue themed shirts to all fans in attendance for the following games: Oct. 31 vs. Los Angeles; Nov. 26 vs. Philadelphia; Dec. 19 vs. N.Y. Islanders; Feb. 14 vs. Winnipeg; and March 24 vs. Arizona.
The first 2,500 fans ages 12 and under will receive soft-sided lunchboxes on Nov. 30, zamboni piggy banks on Dec. 21, draw-string bags on Jan. 31, mini-sticks on March 22, and plush octopi on March 28.
All fans in attendance for the home opener on Oct. 9 will receive a Red Wings magnet schedule, while all fans at the Oct. 11 game will receive an “It’s More Than Hockey” Wall Calendar. The Red Wings will salute the fans of Hockeytown during every home contest in April with fan appreciation games set to feature various giveaways and prizes (April 2, April 5, April 7).
Additional giveaways throughout the season include Red Wings reusable totes on Oct. 18; military appreciation dog tags on Nov. 7; travel mugs on Jan. 18; bottle opener baseball caps on March 6; and flip flops on April 5.
In addition to giveaways, the Red Wings have also announced several of the team’s theme nights for the upcoming campaign: Breast Cancer Awareness Night (Oct. 11), Hockey Fights Cancer Night (Oct. 23), Military Appreciation Night (Nov. 7), Hall of Fame Night (Nov. 14), Motor City Mitten Madness (Nov. 26), Toys for Tots Nights (Dec. 2 & 4), Salvation Army Red Kettle Nights (Dec. 10, 12, 16 & 19), Canned Food Drive (Jan. 17), Wings for Wishes Night (March 26) and “April in the D” Night (April 2).
