Detroit Medical Center Names Dr. David Bryant Specialist-in-Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Dr. David Bryant has joined the Detroit Medical Center as its specialist-in-chief of obstetrics and gynecology for the medical system.

Bryant will provide medical direction and leadership for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecolgoy and will play a vital role in the program’s continued growth. He graduated from Kent State University with departmental honors in biological sciences and earned his medical degree from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine.

He completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at William Beaumont Hospital winning the Harold Longyear Award for the most outstanding graduating resident.

He then completed a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at DMC Hutzel Woman’s Hospital. After completing subspecialty medical training in 1997, he was an assistant professor at the Medical College of Ohio, a senior staff physician at Henry Ford Hospital, and director of obstetrics at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor.

Bryant’s clinical activities cover the breadth and depth of maternal-fetal medicine in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. His main clinical interests include labor and delivery care of both normal and high-risk pregnancies, operative vaginal delivery, and the clinical care of maternal medical conditions, especially maternal diabetes and opioid use disorder.
