Detroit Marriott Adds 4 to Leadership and Sales

DETROIT — The Detroit Marriott hotel at the Renaissance Center in downtown announced the addition of two members to its leadership team. Joel Fuller will be hotel manager and Aleshia Shorter will be the director of finance. Two more additions will join the hotel’s sales team: LaParise Elerson at senior catering sales executive and Kristina Ninivaggi at catering sales executive.  All join the hotel staff with substantial experience in the hospitality sector.

Fuller comes to Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center with 28 years of experience with Marriott International. His most recent position was as general manager of Raleigh Marriott Crabtree Valley Hotel. There, he achieved the highest guest satisfaction solution rating (86.5) in the history of the hotel.

Shorter has 13 years of experience in the finance sector. Her most recent position was with Wells Fargo Bank. From 2000 to 2007, she was director of finance and accounting for various Marriott hotels in the Washington D.C. area and The Ritz-Carlton in Philadelphia.

Elerson brings more than 12 years of experience in hospitality management, particularly in sales and catering. She will to utilize her skills and expertise to grow existing accounts, establish new relationships through networking and community service, and partner with local vendors to ensure the success of meeting and events at this Detroit lodging destination and Courtyard Detroit Downtown.

Ninivaggi’s most recent sales experience is from Marriott International’s Northern Mid-America Group Sales, where she has represented more than 100 hotels in the Midwest in her two-year tenure. In her role, Ninivaggi will be focusing on weddings and corporate events.
