DETROIT — For his Project 84 initiative, Detroit Lions wide receiver Ryan Broyles will be at Eastern Market, Shed 3 to provide 84 families with Thanksgiving dinners to pick up and take home on Tuesday.
To help raise funds for Project 84, Broyles partnered with the newly-launched, Detroit-based crowdfunding platform Funderbuilt. Lions fans and the community can go online to funderbuilt.com and donate to the cause.
“Last year I was able to launch my foundation here in Detroit and the first charity effort we were able to put on was the Thanksgiving dinner giveaway,” says Broyles. “This year we have teamed up with Funderbuilt, and we’re hoping to have the community and fans help us raise funds to help purchase 84 meals for those in need here in Metro Detroit.”
The first 84 families who arrive at the Eastern Market beginning at 1 p.m. Tuesday will receive a full Thanksgiving meal, including turkey, stuffing, corn, macaroni and cheese, muffin mix, cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes. The meals will be pre-bagged for families to take home.
