
Detroit City Football Club has hired of CPA Julie Boyd as the club’s first-ever chief financial officer.
As CFO, Boyd oversees all financial operations and ensures economic health and sustainability. Her strategic insights and financial acumen are vital as DCFC embarks on new initiatives and projects, including breaking ground on a new stadium.
Todd Kropp, the club’s co-founder and COO says Boyd’s addition to the staff is crucial as the club takes on new challenges and opportunities.
“Adding a chief financial officer is crucial to our organization’s evolution,” Kropp says. “Julie’s expertise will be invaluable as we embark on increasingly complex projects, like our new stadium development, and continue to experience substantial growth.

A Canada native, Boyd built her career on a strong belief in mentorship, shaped by her work at BDO in professional development, lecturing at the University of Waterloo, and training new accountants with CPA Ontario. In 1996, she moved to Bermuda, where she first encountered the world of sports with Oracle Team USA during the 35th America’s Cup. She later became CFO of SailGP, spearheading major strategic initiatives, including constructing a custom 185-foot cruise and container ship to streamline operations. Her leadership was instrumental in the organization’s financial success and efficiency.
Boyd most recently was CFO of the Kansas City Current of the National Women’s Soccer League.
