WEST BLOOMFIELD — Tapper’s Diamonds & Fine Jewelry has announced that Guy Bedarida, head designer and creative director for John Hardy, will be appearing at Tapper’s West Bloomfield location from 6-9 p.m.  for a cocktail launch party showcasing the design house’s 2012 Fall collection. A trunk show will then be held from 1-4p.m. Saturday at Tapper’s Somerset Collection location.

In celebration of the Year of the Dragon, Bedarida will share his inspiration behind the Naga collection and present limited edition Naga designs together with the one-of-a-kind Cinta collection. As a special treat, he will personally sign each piece purchased on the day of the event, using a hand engraver.

John Hardy settled in Bali in 1975 in order to learn the local traditions of jewelry-making. Little by little, Hardy’s jewelry company was born and began to grow, in complete harmony with the island, its inhabitants and its philosophy. Today, more than 1,400 people work on the creation of these ethical and original jewels, under the supervision of Bedarida and CEO Damien Dernoncourt.

It is an old Balinese legend that tells of the Naga, a mythical dragon who would boldly dive from the Tiga Gunung volcanoes and into the sea at twilight to visit his most treasured possession, the Pearl. The Naga would return at dawn with water cascading from his scales and into the rice fields for good harvest, providing a symbol of love, prosperity and luck to the people.

Continually soaring to new levels of commitment to the environment in which they create, John Hardy has recently joined the Responsible Jeweler Council, an organization that promotes responsible practices in ethical, social and environmental matters for the jewelry industry.
