As part of its small business relaunch to create a comprehensive strategy around its many small business loans and programs, Detroit Economic Growth Corp. has named Michael Rafferty as its vice president of small business development.
Rafferty will focus on coordinating and supporting Detroit’s small business infrastructure and entities in partnership with the city of Detroit to further enhance small businesses’ potential for success.
Rafferty is the director of the metro Detroit office of Michigan Nonprofit Association where he leads the strategic direction and overall operations in the southeast Michigan region with an emphasis on the city of Detroit. Previously, Rafferty was the development officer for Wayne County Economic Development Growth Engine, with responsibility for the development of its retention program and the attraction of private sector investment.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in organizational communications from St. Mary’s College and a master’s of urban planning from Wayne State University.
