Dalton and Tomich in Detroit Welcomes Attorney Back

Detroit’s Dalton and Tomich PLC has announced attorney Lawrence Opalewski has rejoined the firm.

Opalewski focuses his practice on land use and zoning litigation, as well as constitutional and civil rights litigation. He has represented individuals, religious institutions, businesses, and municipalities and previously worked for Dalton and Tomich from 2013-2016. He is certified by the state of Michigan as a civil mediator.

One of Opalewski’s interests is land use and zoning cases involving the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act. Enacted in 2000, the law protects religious assemblies and institutions from zoning and land use regulations that substantially interfere with their religious exercise.

Opalewski is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and the Detroit Bar Association and is admitted to practice in the Sixth Circuit and Ninth Circuit courts of appeal. He graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and Oakland University.

He sits on the Clinton Township Planning Commission.
