Cornerstone CEO Joins Vistage Michigan

CLAIR SHORES — Cornerstone Charter Schools Chief Executive Officer Tom Willis has become a member of Vistage Michigan, an affiliate of the world’s leading chief executive organization, Vistage International. Vistage Michigan provides business leaders with access to new business perspectives, innovative strategies and actionable items.

As a member of Vistage Michigan, Willis will work with an advisory board of CEO peers who meet in small groups nine times a year to help one another make better business decisions and achieve better results. He also will partake in one-to-one business coaching from a seasoned and accomplished chief executive group chair.

Since taking over as CEO at Cornerstone Charter Schools in late 2011, the Huntington Woods resident has focused his energy into three areas: school culture, results for kids, and leveraging technology to fundamentally improve learning. Willis’ vision is to grow the Cornerstone model so more children can experience educational excellence in a safe, structured and loving environment. He also has served as the school’s chief operating officer and director of technology.

Prior to joining Cornerstone, Willis worked for Intel and PricewaterhouseCoopers and taught economics and Spanish at the middle- and high-school levels.

A Detroit-area native, he earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Michigan and Master of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame. He is a graduate of the University of Detroit Jesuit High School.
