Grand Rapids-based Corewell Health has appointed chief operating officer Dr. Darryl Elmouchi as the interim president of Corewell Health’s East region.
In this interim role, Elmouchi succeeds Dr. Ben Schwartz, who left the organization effective Aug. 21. Schwartz joined the system one year ago.
“Darryl’s extensive experience as a physician and leader, and his deep familiarity with our system and its transformational goals, makes him ideally suited to lead our east team through this period of transition,” says Tina Freese Decker, president and CEO of Corewell Health. “We appreciate the enthusiasm Ben brought to Corewell Health. He fostered new relationships strengthened our sense of community and pride. As we move forward, we will remain focused on providing high-quality, safe, and equitable care.”

Corewell Health will begin work to identify a new permanent East president to guide its efforts in this region.
