Community Choice Credit Union’s growth continues to ramp up, opening its 15th location in Troy, at the corner of Long Lake Road and Livernois Road. The building, which previously housed a Talmer Bank branch, was acquired by the credit union in October for $2 million.

“This has been a year of tremendous growth for Community Choice Credit Union,” says Alan Bergstrom, chief marketing officer of Community Choice Credit Union. “We started 2015 with eight locations and in the span of 12 months have added seven more.”

Over the past year, Community Choice Credit Union‘s expansion to 15 locations has allowed membership to grow from 55,876 to 75,584 members and assets from $536 million to $708 million, more than a 30 percent increase.

“Our growth strategy is driven by Michigan residents’ need for advanced, high-tech banking solutions, as well as the trust and treatment of a local financial partner,” Bergstrom says. “For too long, people had to choose between one or the other — the perks and technology of the banks or care and trust of credit unions. We’ve made it our mission to provide it all.”

Earlier this year, Community Choice Credit Union completed two mergers, one with NuPath Community Credit Union in April and another with Eastside Family Credit Union in June. Together, the mergers added four locations, 14,600 members and $130M in assets. In addition, the credit union acquired a location in Dearborn Heights; a former branch of the Polish-American Federal Credit Union.

A new location in Northville was opened in March and has received a beautification award from the city for its contribution to enhancing the community’s attractiveness and livability.

Community Choice also spent the year investing in the enhancement of existing locations. In February, Community Choice debuted its new member center concept with two freshly renovated member centers in Milford and Livonia.

The new Troy branch is at 30 E. Long Lake Road.

“Troy was the natural next move for us, as the area shares many of our values,” said Bergstrom. “It boasts a strong business community leading in innovation, as well as residents who are committed to their families, community and giving back. We’re honored to join them.”

Growth for Community Choice will continue into 2016 and beyond, with goals to open two new member centers per year in addition to mergers.  For more information on Community Choice Credit Union visit CommunityChoiceCU.com.
