DETROIT—The Comerica Hatch Detroit Contest returns for its fifth year and will begin accepting applications on May 1. Entrepreneurs with a retail concept must submit their business plan for a chance at winning a $50,000.
The winner will also receive a package of services including legal, marketing and advertising, accounting, public relations and IT support from Hatch Detroit and its partners.
Last year’s Comerica Hatch Detroit Contest winner Sister Pie opened today just eight months after becoming the contest’s fourth champion. Sister Pie aims to celebrate the seasons through pie and will use seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients to create sweet, savory and delicious food.
The opening day menu includes breakfast pastries, shortbreads, cookies and, of course, lots and lots of pie! Current pie flavors include salted maple, rhubarb walnut crumble, coconut chocolate and honey lemon meringue. Sister Pie is located at 8066 Kercheval St. in Detroit’s West Village.
