Colleen Robar, founder and president of Robar PR in Detroit, will be inducted into the Public Relations Society of America – Detroit Chapter’s Hall of Fame on Tuesday, Nov. 19.
A ceremony will take place at The Community House in Birmingham. The hall of fame is the highest honor the Detroit chapter bestows.
Robar has worked in public relations for 30 years and established her firm in 2005. She has held positions with General Motors International, Crain Communications, Team Detroit/JWT, Mullen, Ardesta, and the Ritz-Carlton.
As the producer of Detroit Homecoming, an initiative started in 2014 to re-engage successful Detroit-area “expats” with their hometown, Robar helped bring in nearly $400 million in pending or closed investments with expat engagement. In 2016, Homecoming was honored as one of eight international place-making initiatives at the International Place Marketing Forum, which met in Aix-en-Provence, France. Robar presented a case study of the program at the conference and accepted an award on its behalf.
After completing her bachelor’s degree in journalism and marketing at Central Michigan University, Robar earned a Master of Business Administration in technology management from the University of Phoenix.
The annual meeting and induction will include a reception, networking, dinner, and a program. The event will also include an election of the 2020 PRSA Detroit officers and directors, recognition of newly accredited members, and a scholarship presentation. Tickets are $65 each and available here.
The chapter will celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2020.
