The Grosse Pointe Yacht Club (GPYC), in Grosse Pointe Shores, has appointed Colby Newman as their new executive chef. Newman, formerly the executive chef at Amarillo Country Club, specializes in modern farm-to-table cuisine.
“I’m looking forward to bringing my style of food to such a well-respected club,” says Newman. “GPYC already has a great culinary program, so my goal is to continue taking it to the next level. GPYC is known as a top yacht club in the country, and I want to make sure the food always matches the standards of being a premiere club.
We have so many members who travel and dine at some of our country’s best clubs and restaurants, and I want to be able to provide them with the same dining experience right here in their own hometown.”
Newman studied French cuisine at Scottsdale Culinary Institute in Arizona. He has since studied under chef Lidia Bastianich, worked in a farm-to-table concept, and owned his own Asian restaurant.
“I want to be a part of GPYC for a long time,” says Newman. “I will continue to build upon the amazing team I already have here at the Club.”
