
Kevin Johnson, vice president and chief information officer for Clarience Technologies in Southfield, a global provider of visibility technologies for transportation, was named a finalist for the prestigious 2023 Michigan CIO of the Year ORBIE Awards.
The Michigan CIO of the Year ORBIE Awards are given each year by MichiganCIO with support from its media sponsor Crain’s Detroit Business. The program recognizes CIOs who have demonstrated excellence in technology leadership.
These awards also honor individuals who have made significant contributions to their organizations and the technology industry. With 32 years of experience working in the information technology field, Johnson has helped reshape the information technology team since joining Clarience Technologies in 2020.
His department has taken on several high-profile initiatives that support the company’s growth goals, including the implementation of new business intelligence and analytics platforms, cybersecurity technologies, and several systems integrations across its team of companies.

Johnson earned a Bachelor of Sciencd in management information systems and an MBA. in finance and entrepreneurial management with Beta Gamma Sigma honors from Wayne State University in Detroit. The 2023 Michigan CIO of the Year ORBIE Award winners will be announced on Nov. 17.
