DETROIT — Mary Alice Annecharico has been appointed senior vice president and Chief Information Officer of Henry Ford Health System. Annecharico joined Henry Ford in December.

She oversees a 600-member department which provides applications, data integration, technology infrastructure, and telecommunications planning, selection, implementation, testing, deployment and support services for the entire health system.

In addition, Annecharico directs the launch of the clinical and revenue-cycle transformation with Epic – an electronic medical record –  and will continue to enhance information integration, improve efficiency and reduce costs.

“Mary Alice has extensive experience leading health care information technology teams, including working in a complex health system, academic medical center and medical school,” said Bob Riney, president and COO of Henry Ford Health System.

She comes from University Hospitals in Cleveland, where she served as senior vice president and Chief Information Officer. There, she led the successful implementation of the electronic medical record and integration of IT systems and services across the health system.

Annecharico combines IT expertise with clinical experience, beginning her career as a registered nurse specializing in critical care.  She has more than 25 years of experience in IT strategy and execution, serving as a hospital system IT leader and as a consultant.

She is editor of the Journal of Healthcare Information Management, a Fellow of the Health Information Management Systems Society and active in many professional organizations.
