Christopher L. Stefani has been promoted to chief of staff at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield.

As a member of the president’s cabinet, he manages high-priority programs meant to achieve the private university’s mission for enhancing access to education across the region.

“I am working alongside and in full support of LTU President Tarek Sobh to grow the university’s presence locally and globally,” says Stefani. “I strongly believe LTU is the university of the future. We are the right size and have the tools to transform the landscape of this region – and of higher education – for the future.”

Stefani, 33, earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from LTU before beginning a career in design and education. He’s worked at the university for eight years in a variety of roles.

Stefani also established his own design firm, The C.L. Stefani Co., a Detroit-based multidisciplinary design group that is committed to community projects. He is invested in LTU’s Innovative Pathways Initiative, which is designed to increase access to high-quality education from K-12 through post-secondary and professional development programs.

He co-developed LTU’s Early Middle College pioneering program at Henry Ford High School in Detroit, giving students the opportunity to simultaneously earn a high school diploma and associate degree in computer science.

His achievements have been recognized throughout the industry. In 2020, Crain’s Detroit Business named Stefani among its 20 in their Twenties for his work developing educational programing for underserved youth. He was a featured speaker at the 2023 Michigan College Access Network Annual Conference and the 2016 National Organization of Minority Architects National Conference.
