The Old Newsboys’ Goodfellow Fund of Detroit will present Christopher Ilitch, president and CEO of Ilitch Holdings, Inc. and chairman of Ilitch Charities, with the Edward H. McNamara Goodfellow of the Year Award at the 26 annual Tribute Breakfast.

“As a second-generation leader with earned respect, Christopher Ilitch is continuing the positive impact of his parents, and our organization is honored to recognize him,” says Nancy Foran, president of Detroit Goodfellows.

The award, which is presented to individuals who have contributed significantly to the community, will honor Ilitch for his contributions through Ilitch Charities, which focus on human services, community development, education, and recreation.

Prior recipients include: The Detroit Police Department; Peter Karmanos, Jr., Compuware co-founder; A. Alfred Taubman, American real estate developer; Kid Rock and the Kid Rock Foundation; and Alan Mulally, president and CEO of Ford Motor Company.

Tickets for the breakfast, which takes place 8 a.m., Oct. 9 at Cobo Center, are $150 or $1,500 for a table of 10. There are also special $5,000 Santa Circle tables available. Revenue raised at the event will go toward the Detroit Goodfellows’ 2015 fundraising goal of $1.1 million, which will help provide 34,000 holiday gift packages for needy children in Detroit, Highland Park, Harper Woods, River Rouge, and Hamtramck.
