The key to better crops, better meats, and clean run off water from farms is simple — all natural, chemical free microbiology. These topics and more will be the focus at the upcoming 2016 Value Added Meat Conference on Feb. 22 in Howell.
The conference, presented by Birmingham-based Cover Crop Ranch and CenterSeeds, includes informative presentations by industry leaders like Chef Aaron Cozadd; farmer Travis Flora; attorney Joe Yamin; Gino Berrata from Fairway Packing; and nationally-known speaker Jeff Rasawehr, from Cover Crop Ranch.
“We’re expecting in excess of 100 participants who will receive information and an education on how to produce and market a value added meat product,” Rasaweh says. “From proper soil management to ensure nutrient density in the product produced, selection of plants for feeding, management and harvesting of those plants, access to buyers and distributors of value added meat, legal information on how to brand and establish a label, and how to market, promote, and sell their products.”
The event will be held at at Crystal Gardens Banquet Center, 5768 East Grand River Ave. The cost for the event is $100, however, the cost drops to $50 for CenterSeeds dealer, CenterSeeds customer, or a farmer in Howell and surrounding communities. Register centerseeds.com or by contacting CenterSeeds at 419-305-018.
