
The Citizens Research Council of Michigan in Livonia elected Carolee Kvoriak as chair of the board of directors at the March 13 board meeting.
Kvoriak was elected to fill the balance of the term after Chase Cantrell resigned to become a candidate for the mayor of Detroit.
Kvoriak is executive director of tax for Consumers Energy in Detroit. She has been on the Citizens Research Council Board since 2015, the past year and a half as the vice-chair of the board. She is the third woman to serve as the Research Council’s board chair.
Founded in 1916, the Citizens Research Council of Michigan works to improve government in Michigan. The organization provides works to provide factual, unbiased, independent information concerning significant issues of state and local government organization, policy, and finance.
The Citizens Research Council maintains a policy of not allowing elected government officials, persons actively running for elected office, or government staff serving on its 35-member board of directors or the 60-member council of trustees that constitutes the membership of the not-for-profit organization.
“The Research Council’s board of directors conveys a hearty debt of appreciation to Chase for his service on the board and his leadership in recent years,” says Kvoriak. “While the Research Council does not endorse candidates for public office, we wish him well in this exciting new chapter in his life.”
