John Hill has been named chief information officer by Dearborn-based Carhartt.

Hill’s primary responsibilities are working with Carhartt’s senior leadership team to define its technology strategy for the company’s growth objectives. Additionally, he leads the teams responsible for planning and executing initiatives to meet the company’s technology vision while ensuring that informational systems are available and secure.

Prior to joining the Carhartt team, Hill had previously served as the vice president of solutions delivery at W.W. Grainger and as the CIO and vice president of business transformation at for the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.

Hill, a former U.S. Air Force officer, is from Chicago and will be relocating to Detroit.

Hill earned a Bachelor of Science in economics from the U.S. Air Force Academy and a Master of Arts in management from Bowie State University, Maryland.
