Capuchin Soup Kitchen Names 2014 Fundraiser Event Chair

DETROIT — The Capuchin Soup Kitchen’s development office has named Daniel J. Pienta, president and CEO of the Eastern Michigan Business Unit of the Northern Trust Co., as chair of the soup kitchen’s premier Support Our Capuchin Kitchen SOCK fundraising event to be held in October.

Pienta holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Michigan and has participated in a variety of banking related training and development programs. Currently board chairman of New Horizons Rehabilitation Services Inc., he is immediate past board chairman for Oakland Family Services Inc.

The 42nd annual SOCK dinner will be held  from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 17, at the Marriott at Detroit’s Renaissance Center. Tickets are $250 per person and include dinner, cocktails, musical entertainment, and the After Glow event. Last year, the SOCK event’s gross revenue was more than $600,000 dollars.

The soup kitchen is a ministry of the Province of St. Joseph of the Capuchin Order, which is headquartered in Detroit and serves Capuchin ministries worldwide.
