Butzel Names Javon R. David and Mitchell Zajac Shareholders

Javon R. David and Mitchell Zajac, attorneys at Butzel based in Detroit, have been elected shareholders at the firm.

Formerly associate attorneys, David and Zajac are members of Butzel’s litigation and dispute resolution practice group, one of the firms’ largest practice areas. It handles arbitration and litigation matters including appeals, bankruptcy, product liability, and more.

David concentrates her practice in the areas of commercial litigation, media and entertainment law, and product liability. She has experience handling cases from the onset of the suit through trial.

In 2021, she was appointed to the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel Association (MDTC) Board of Directors. She also serves on the Oakland County Bar Association Business Court and Counsel Committee. She also serves as general counsel for the Michigan Press Association.

She earned her law degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and her bachelor’s from the University of Michigan, Dearborn.

Zajac’s practice focuses on automotive, intellectual property, regulatory and emissions compliance, and sports and entertainment law and is a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

He has helped several clients manage and craft IP portfolios in other unique industries, like medicine, light-weighting, and industrial manufacturing. He also has experience in complex patent, trade secret, and commercial litigation cases.

He earned his law degree from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School and his two bachelor’s degrees from Western Michigan University.
